Toco Toucan

The largest and most recognisable toucan, the Toco Toucan is known for its oversized, brightly coloured bill used for reaching fruit and regulating body heat.

• Its bill can be nearly a third of its total body length yet is very lightweight.
• The bill helps release heat, acting like a built-in radiator.
• Despite its size, the bill is made of keratin over a honeycomb of bone.
